My family of 5 has traveled to Legoland Resort Hotels and Legoland Theme Park in Florida twice and are already planning a return visit because our whole family had such a great time from arrival to departure. Legoland Florida Resort is most definitely an amusement park option for travel destinations with younger kids. Vacations with toddlers and little kids can be overwhelming but I want to show readers that kids of all ages, YES even toddlers, can have SO MUCH FUN! Best Age to Take your Child to Legoland Florida?
The best age to take a child to Legoland can vary depending on the individual child's interests, preferences, and developmental stage. However, Legoland is designed to cater to families with children between the ages of 2 to 12. Here are some considerations based on different age groups:
Toddlers (2-4 years old):
Legoland has dedicated areas, such as Duplo Valley, that are specifically designed for toddlers. These areas offer age-appropriate rides, play zones, and interactive experiences suitable for the youngest visitors. Small children and toddlers will love fun ride options without long wait times. The wide walkways make it the perfect place to navigate a stroller.
Preschoolers (4-6 years old):
Children in this age group can enjoy a wider range of Legoland attractions, including rides with gentle thrills, interactive play areas, and interactive shows with Lego characters. Many areas of the Legoland theme park are designed to appeal to preschoolers, allowing them to explore and engage in imaginative play. Young kids will love the music and play structure options throughout the Legoland theme park.
Early Elementary (6-8 years old):

List of Legoland Rides for Toddlers
1. The Grand Carousel - Located right inside the theme park entrance this is my favorite ride to kick off your Legoland theme park day. Riders of all ages will love this sweet two two story carousel. No rider minimum height requirement. but if your child is under 48 inches be sure to have someone there with them!
2. DUPLO Tractor -Duplo Valley - Even if your children are not toddlers, stop by the DUPLO Tractor. My older children thought this was fun and cute and rode multiple times. This cute tractor ride goes through a farm, fields, and around animals. The interactive animal sounds are so cute. Minimum height requirement of 42 inches to ride alone. Children under 42 need a responsible rider to hop in the back with them. Older siblings are perfect for helping younger children on this ride.
3. DUPLO Train - Another adorable ride in Duplo Valley, this DUPLO Train ride will be a huge hit with toddlers and children. Its smooth and quick and perfect for little ones getting used to their first rides. Ride through a farm and see animals and Lego figures fishing complete with lights and sounds. Minimum Height Requirement: 34 inches. Children under 34 inches need someone 48 or taller to ride with them.
4. Lost Kingdom Adventure - This ride is similar to the Lego Ninjago ride feel but welcomes riders as small as 30 inches. Riders use laser guns to shoot at mummies and skeletons and track your points for a friendly challenge on this Legoland Florida ride.
5. Safari Trek -Hands down the cutest sweetest Legoland ride for children. Spot Lego made animals with movement and sounds as you cruise through this Lego jungle. Minimum height requirement is 34 inches and if you are under 48 inches grab a responsible rider 14 or above to join!

The best part of taking a small child or a toddler to Legoland is that there is still SO much to do outside of just rides. The layout and planning of the Legoland Theme Park layout is genius, with play areas for toddlers nestled around the Legoland Theme Park and near most of the larger rides to keep younger siblings busy and happy!
Things to Keep in Mind about Traveling to Legoland with Toddlers
1. Stroller-Friendly Areas
The entire park is stroller accessible. Navigating throughout the park with a toddler is easy and totally doable. There are designated stroller parking areas which makes it easy for parents and caregivers. If you are not traveling with a stroller to Legoland, do not stress - you can easily rent one once you get to Legoland Theme Park. This is located right inside of the entrance to the theme park and rates are very affordable. A single day stroller rental at Legoland for a single stroller is 25.00 and a double stroller is 35.00.
2. Duplo Valley School House
The DUPLO® Valley Schoolhouse located in DUPLO® Valley is stocked with bottle warmers, highchairs, rockers, baby changing facilities, a cell phone charging station, and a microwave. In addition, all restrooms (male and female) park-wide have diaper change tables and family restrooms available.
It's always a good idea to check the specific offerings and facilities of the Baby Care Center in Legoland Florida, as services may vary. The duplo valley school house is a valuable resource for parents, providing a dedicated space for taking care of their little ones during a day of fun in the park an a nice little break from the Florida sun. This is one of my favorite things about traveling to Legoland Theme Park is that there is a dedicated space to recharge and take care of your young child while you are comfortable, especially during hot days in the Florida sun.
Best Time to Plan a Trip To Legoland With Small Children?
One of the best things about traveling with toddlers is that your travel dates are likely more flexible! Advise on preparing for the Florida weather and suggest items like sunscreen, hats, and water bottles for toddlers. We visited Legoland Hotel and Resort during December during both of our visits, during a non peak travel time and we basically had the theme park to ourselves. Our children never waited in line which is perfect for a toddler or young child.
Legoland Florida offers a variety of non-ride attractions suitable for toddlers. Here's a list of such attractions:
Duplo Tot Spot: A dedicated play area designed for toddlers with larger-than-life Duplo bricks, slides, and interactive elements.
LEGO DUPLO Farm: A hands-on play area where toddlers can explore a farm setting, interact with Duplo animals, and build their own Duplo creations.
Duplo Playtown: A miniature town where toddlers can engage in imaginative play with Duplo bricks, houses, and vehicles.
LEGO Friends Heartlake City Playground: A playground inspired by the LEGO Friends theme, offering climbing structures, slides, and interactive play features.
Build-A-Boat: A hands-on experience where toddlers can build and race their own LEGO boats in a water-filled channel. Located in the Imagination Zone in the Legoland Water Park
LEGO City Play Zone: An interactive play area with climbing structures and LEGO bricks for creative play.
Miniland USA:: While Miniland features intricate LEGO models of famous landmarks, it can be visually engaging for toddlers to explore and point out colorful LEGO creations.
Build a Raft Lazy River Float around in this fun Lego inspired lazy river. Life jackets are provided for toddlers and younger children.
Duplo Splash Safari My toddler LOVED this during our first visit to LEGOLAND water park in Florida.
Splash pad time! Toddlers will rule at this water play area with shorter slides and interactive, larger-than-life DUPLO® creatures. This area is for children age 6 and under. Children must be able to walk unassisted and sit upright to ride down the slides, and also must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Joker Soaker - Slide, splash and get soaked in this interactive play area, filled with slides, climbing areas, water spouts and wading pool! Get a super splash from the giant 300 gallon bucket! While toddlers wont be able to enjoy the entire joker soaker like big kids they can definitely enjoy the more entry level parts of the interactive play area and cool down!
Lego wave pool -Catch some waves or cool off where the waves are just big enough for all ages to enjoy. There are floating Lego bricks all around the wave pool and plenty of open area for toddlers to splash and play in the shallow portions. Splash time! Toddlers will rule at this water play area with shorter slides and interactive, larger-than-life DUPLO® creatures. This area is for children age 6 and under. Peppa Pig Theme Park at Legoland

Must Have's While Visiting Legoland With Toddlers and Young Children
Reuseable water / drink cup - This cup is a must have while you are navigating Legoland Florida. You can refill the souvenir drink cup every 15 minutes all day at the park. The machines have water, powerade, lemonade and sodas. We use the cup constantly at home and between trips as well. Worth every penny.
-Parents will want a portable phone charger There are fun photo opportunities tucked into every corner of Legoland Resort in Florida, so you will be snapping photos and taking videos constantly if you are anything like me. Add that to using the app to check Legoland ride times or register your child for classes, and your phone battery will be drained quickly if you are not prepared. I highly recommend bringing a portable phone charger for the adults in your party, so you don't have to miss out on any photo opportunities to capture!
-Sunscreen! Its Florida so no matter when you visit, it will be hot! We always visit Legoland in December and the weather is still in the high 80’s. I love the warm temperatures but you will want to be prepared with sunscreen so you do not have to buy it for triple the price at the park or resort.
-Casual Clothes - Legoland resort in Florida is SUPER, SUPER casual. Do not pack anything formal or nice unless you just really want to. Most adults in the resort will be wearing athletic clothes or you will see plenty of kids with bathing suits and cover ups as well. The entire Legoland resort in Florida is very laid back, so leave your fancy clothes at home and pack comfortable items for the entire family to relax in.
-Tennis shoes - Tennis shoes are a MUST! Break them in before the trip if you are buying new shoes. You will be walking in the heat on pavement, make sure you select footwear that works for that. You are going to be walking a ton while at the theme park and around the resort. We packed flip flops and sandals for around the resort and ease of getting in and out of the pool for the kids but this isn’t necessary if you are trying to pack light. Packing one pair of comfortable tennis shoes each would be perfect for your family.
Multiple bathing suits - You will want multiple bathing suits per kid for the heated pools at the Legoland Florida resort, Legoland Florida resort water slide and then the Legoland water park at the theme park. We opted to pack more than one bathing suit per kid so that they didnt have to put on a wet one from the water park or pool earlier and felt it was plenty. Towels are provided on Legoland resort property located right by the pool. Life Jackets are provided as well for guests of Legoland resort in Florida, leave those at home! They have plenty of sizes to choose from for your children.
-Hat - Florida sun, yall! You need a hat year round when visiting Legoland Florida. Whether you pack one from home or pick up a fun Legoland themed hat while on property, you cannot go wrong. Remember that Legoland passholders save on all food and shop purchases too!
-Tylenol / Motrin / Other Meds - Pack some headache medicine, vitamins, medications you take regularly. I always pack fever medication and cough medication for my children when we travel in a freezer ziploc bag just incase. Sometimes airport germs hit you once you are on a trip and you do not want to have to go out while on vacation late at night in search of medication.
Snacks for the room - There are not microwaves in the Legoland Florida Resort rooms, so having snacks are much easier. We purchased snacks and fruit and had delivered from Instacart since we flew to Legoland resort, and opted to skip the breakfast buffet. This made our morning easier and quicker to get to the park when it opened. We also enjoyed having chips, pretzels and other things for afternoon pick me ups or bedtime snacks vs. buying from the gift shop downstairs. Even though there are not microwaves in the rooms, a server at the restaurant did say they are available and can be brought to your room if requested. Small dorm sized refrigerators are there for guest use in room and are great for Gatorades, waters, and juice boxes.

Cost of Taking a Toddler to Legoland -
The primary expense for visiting Legoland Resort and Theme Park is the admission ticket. 2 year olds do require their own admission tickets. Childrens age 1 and under do not need a ticket. Prices vary depending on factors like age, time of year, and the specific park location. Typically, there are various ticket options available, including single-day passes, multi-day passes, annual passes, and combo tickets for accessing multiple Legoland parks or attractions.
Accommodation -If you're planning an extended stay, accommodation costs are a significant consideration. Legoland often offers on-site resort options, providing themed rooms and convenient access to the park. Alternatively, nearby hotels might offer package deals that include park tickets.
Food and Beverages - Inside the park, food and beverage costs can add up, especially for families. Consider dining plans or meal packages offered by the park to potentially save on eating expenses.
Parking and Transportation - Parking fees at Legoland Resort and Theme Park should also be factored in. If you're not staying on-site, transportation costs to and from the park should be considered as well.
Souvenirs and Extras - While exploring the park, the temptation to bring home a Lego set or souvenir is hard to resist. Factor in some extra budget for these purchases or consider setting limits in advance.
Should We stay on Resort property if Traveling to Legoland with our Toddler?
YES yes and yes. The Legoland theme park is steps away from the entrance and this gives you the flexibility to go back to the resort room for nap time if needed before heading back to the theme park.
