SeaWorld Orlando Tips: What to Wear Guide

SeaWorld theme parks vary in size across different locations. The acreage and layout can differ, so it's recommended to check the specific SeaWorld Park you plan to visit for the most accurate and up-to-date information. However, I can provide a general overview based on the typical features of SeaWorld parks.

  1. SeaWorld Orlando in Central Florida:

    • SeaWorld Orlando Florida is one of the larger SeaWorld parks.

    • It covers over 200 acres and includes various themed areas, including Shamu's Happy Harbor, Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin, and Mako, the park's tallest and fastest roller coaster.  It is easily accessible from the Orlando International Airport and close to Universal Orlando resort and theme park and downtown Orlando for additional fun while in Florida.

  2. SeaWorld San Diego:

    • SeaWorld San Diego is situated on around 190 acres.

    • The park is known for its scenic location along the waterfront and features attractions like the Shamu Stadium and Journey to Atlantis.

  3. SeaWorld San Antonio:

    • SeaWorld San Antonio is another sizable park, covering approximately 250 acres.

    • The park includes popular attractions such as Steel Eel, Wave Breaker: The Rescue Coaster, and Discovery Point.

  4. Walking and Navigating:

    • SeaWorld parks are designed to be easily navigable, with well-marked pathways and directional signage.

    • Visitors can explore different themed areas, each offering unique attractions, shows, and exhibits.

    • Maps are typically provided at the entrance, and signposts throughout the park help guests find their way to various attractions, dining areas, and restrooms.

Does Sea World Orlando Have a Water Park?

SeaWorld Orlando features a water park called Aquatica Orlando. Aquatica is a separate water park owned and operated by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, and it is located adjacent to SeaWorld Orlando. Aquatica offers a variety of water attractions, including water slides, wave pool options, lazy rivers, and interactive play areas and splash pad. It provides the entire family with a refreshing and aquatic-themed experience to take a break from the intense Florida sun in addition to the marine life and thrill rides at SeaWorld Orlando. Keep in mind that admission to Aquatica is typically separate from SeaWorld, and you may need a separate ticket to access the water park.

Let's dive into the ultimate Sea World wardrobe checklist!

List of Items to Have on Hand and Wear:

  1. Comfortable Clothing:

    • Lightweight and Breathable Fabrics: Opt for clothing made from lightweight and breathable fabrics such as cotton or moisture-wicking materials. These fabrics will help keep you cool and comfortable, especially if you're spending a lot of time walking around in the sun.

      • Loose-Fitting Clothing: Choose loose-fitting clothing that allows for ease of movement. This will help prevent chafing and ensure you stay comfortable throughout the day.

      • Layering: Depending on the weather, consider layering your clothing so you can easily adjust to changes in temperature throughout the day. For example, bring a light jacket or sweater that you can easily tie around your waist or throw on if it gets chilly in the evening.

    • Having extra dry clothes for kids is always a good idea so noone is miserable and complaining through the rest of hte park.  Roll up the clothes and they will not take up a ton of space.

  2. Swimwear:

    • Pack your swimsuit  / bathing suit for water attractions and splash zones.

    • Consider a quick-drying option to avoid discomfort.

  3. Hat and Sunglasses:

    • Shield yourself from the sun with a wide-brimmed hat.

    • Sunglasses will not only protect your eyes but also add a stylish touch.

  4. Water Shoes or Sandals:

    • Opt for water shoes or sandals that are comfortable for walking and can handle getting wet. This is especially useful for water rides and splash zones.

  5. Quick-Drying Clothing:

    • Lightweight and quick-drying clothing is ideal for staying comfortable throughout the day, especially if you plan to experience water attractions.

  6. Sunscreen:

    • Don't forget to apply sunscreen generously and reapply throughout the day.

    • Opt for a water-resistant formula to stay protected during water activities.

  7. Rain Poncho or Jacket:

    • Be prepared for unexpected rain showers with a lightweight poncho or jacket to be prepared for inclement weather.

    • It can also come in handy for water rides.

  8. Backpack or Tote Bag:

    • Carry a backpack or tote bag to store essentials like sunscreen, snacks, and souvenirs.

    • Ensure it's water-resistant to protect your belongings.

  9. Reusable Water Bottle:

    • Stay hydrated by bringing a reusable water bottle.

    • Most parks have refill stations to keep your bottle topped up.  I personally recommend buying the refillable SeaWorld water bottles to refill every 15 minutes throughout the park.  Your family will be walking a LOT and having something you can refill will make a huge difference. You can also use these cups at home too.

  10. Camera or Smartphone:

    • Capture magical moments with a waterproof camera or a smartphone in a waterproof case.

    • Ensure you have enough storage for all the incredible memories.

  11. Avoid Bulky Accessories: Minimize the number of bulky accessories you wear, as they can weigh you down and become uncomfortable after a while. Instead, opt for lightweight accessories like a simple necklace or bracelet to add a touch of style without sacrificing comfort.

  12. Choosing the right footwear for a day at a theme park is crucial for comfortable shoes and enjoyment. Here are some tips and footwear options to consider:

    1. Comfortable Sneakers: Opt for well-cushioned, supportive sneakers with good arch support. Look for shoes specifically designed for walking or running, as they will provide the comfort and stability you need for a day of walking and standing.

    2. Break Them In: Make sure your shoes are broken in before your theme park visit. Wearing new shoes straight out of the box can lead to blisters and discomfort. Wear them around the house or on short walks to ensure they're comfortable and won't cause any issues during your day at the park.

    3. Moisture-Wicking Socks: Choose moisture-wicking socks made from materials like synthetic blends or merino wool. These socks will help keep your feet dry and prevent blisters, even if you sweat during the day.

    4. Adjustable Straps: If you prefer sandals or other open-toed shoes, look for options with adjustable straps to ensure a secure fit. Avoid flip-flops or sandals with thin straps, as they may not provide enough support or stability for long periods of walking.

    5. Waterproof or Quick-Drying Materials: If you anticipate getting wet on water rides or in splash zones, consider wearing shoes made from waterproof or quick-drying materials. This will help prevent discomfort from soggy, waterlogged shoes for the rest of the day.

    6. Extra Pair of Shoes: Consider bringing an extra pair of shoes or sandals in your bag. This can be especially helpful if your primary shoes get wet or if you start to experience discomfort and need to switch to a different pair.

    7. Proper Fit: Ensure your shoes fit properly with enough room for your toes to wiggle comfortably. Avoid shoes that are too tight or too loose, as they can cause blisters, foot pain, and other discomforts.

    8. Take Breaks: Throughout the day, take breaks to sit down and give your feet a rest. This will help prevent fatigue and keep you feeling fresh for the rest of your theme park adventure.

By choosing the right footwear and following these tips, you can ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience at the theme park without any foot-related discomfort.

What Kind of Bag Should I bring to Sea World Orlando?

When visiting SeaWorld, it's advisable to bring a bag that is practical, comfortable to carry, and suitable for a day at a theme park. Here are some recommendations for the type of bag to bring as a mom of 3 small kids to help you navigate and have your hands free:

  1. Backpack:

    • A backpack is a popular choice as it allows you to distribute the weight evenly on your shoulders.

    • Choose a backpack with multiple compartments to help organize your belongings.

  2. Crossbody Bag:

    • A crossbody bag is a convenient option if you prefer a smaller and lightweight bag.

    • It can be worn across your body, leaving your hands free for other activities.

  3. Drawstring Bag:

    • A drawstring bag is a simple and lightweight choice for carrying essentials.

    • It's easy to carry and can be cinched closed to keep your items secure.

  4. Tote Bag:

    • A medium-sized tote bag with sturdy handles can be a stylish and practical option.

    • Make sure it's made of water-resistant material to protect your belongings.

  5. Waist Pack or Fanny Pack:

    • A waist pack or fanny pack is a hands-free option that can be worn around your waist.

    • It's compact and great for keeping your essentials within easy reach.

  6. Water-Resistant Bag:

    • Consider a bag made from water-resistant material to protect your belongings and cell phones in case of rain or water rides.

  7. Foldable or Collapsible Bag:

    • If you plan on purchasing souvenirs, bring a foldable or collapsible bag to accommodate any additional items.

Clothing for Children at SeaWorld Orlando FL:

When dressing children for a day at theme parks in Florida, it's essential to prioritize comfort, protection from the sun, and the potential for sudden changes in weather. Here are some clothing tips for small children visiting theme parks in Florida:

  1. Lightweight and Breathable Clothing: Opt for lightweight and breathable fabrics like cotton to keep children cool and comfortable in Florida's hot and humid weather. Loose-fitting clothing allows for better air circulation and helps prevent overheating.

  2. Sun Protection: Protect children from the sun's harmful rays by dressing them in sun-safe clothing. Choose clothing with UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) ratings for added sun protection, and consider long-sleeved shirts, pants, and wide-brimmed hats to shade little kids skin from direct sunlight.

  3. Layering: Florida weather can be unpredictable, so it's a good idea to dress children in layers that can be easily added or removed as needed. Bring along a lightweight jacket or sweater for cooler mornings or evenings, and consider packing a poncho or raincoat in case of sudden rain showers.

  4. Comfortable Footwear: Ensure children wear comfortable, supportive shoes suitable for walking long distances and standing in line for attractions. Closed-toe shoes with good traction are ideal for navigating theme parks and protecting little feet from potential hazards.

  5. Swimwear and Water Shoes: If your children plan to visit water parks or splash zones within the theme park, pack swimwear and water shoes. Quick-drying swim trunks or swimsuits and sturdy water shoes will keep children comfortable and safe while enjoying water attractions.

  6. Hats and Sunglasses: Encourage children to wear hats with wide brims to shield their faces, necks, and eyes from the sun. Additionally, sunglasses with UV protection help protect their eyes from harmful UV rays and reduce glare.

  7. Pack Extra Clothing: Accidents happen, especially when children are having fun at theme parks. Pack spare clothing in your bag in case children get wet on water rides or spill food or drinks on themselves.

  8. Character or Themed Clothing: Many children enjoy wearing clothing featuring their favorite characters or themes from the theme park. Consider letting them wear character t-shirts or costumes to enhance their experience and add to the fun.

By dressing children in comfortable, sun-safe clothing and being prepared for changes in weather, you can ensure they have a memorable and enjoyable time at theme parks in Florida.

As you embark on your Sea World adventure, dressing appropriately is key to maximizing your enjoyment. With the right clothing and accessories, you'll be ready to tackle the thrilling rides, get up close with marine life, and make a splash in the designated water zones. Remember, comfort and practicality are the name of the game, so gear up and get ready for a day of marine marvels at Sea World!
