Parents and teachers can explain that leprechauns are actually one reason you are instructed to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day. Get ready to share the Irish folklore, don your green, hunt for four-leaf clovers, and try to find gold at the end of a rainbow.

Legend says wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns, which like to pinch anyone they can see! If you were raised in an Irish heritage household like me, you can talk about the important of Irish culture as well with your wee folk.

What are the common traditions families can celebrate for St. Patrick’s Day?

Wearing green is a must! Get creative with your preschooler or child on St. Patrick’s Day with finding green articles of clothing to wear! Your child will love going on a scavenger hunt for green items too! If you live in or around Chicago, Illinois you will definitely want to see the Chicago River dyed green. Many cities have parades with talented Irish dancers and a St. Patrick’s Day parade. At home, families make corned beef and cabbage. However your family celebrates, may it be the luckiest St. Patrick’s Day yet for you and your wee folk.
