Ultimate Packing List for Legoland Florida: Essential Tips
A huge draw of the Legoland resort and hotel is the 150-acre theme park whose theme park entrance that is located steps from the resort entrance. The centerpiece of LEGOLAND Florida Resort is its theme park, which features over 50 rides, shows, and attractions designed for families with children aged 2-12. These attractions include roller coasters, interactive rides, water rides, and various themed play areas. Adjacent to the theme park is the LEGOLAND Water Park, offering a variety of water-based attractions, including slides, a lazy river, wave pool, and interactive play areas. The water park is included with admission to the main theme park. The Peppa Pig theme park is in walking distance as well.

Packing for an entire family for a big trip can be overwhelming, but no need to stress! My family of 5 has been to Legoland Florida Resort 2x and had a TON of fun. Read along for my list of 15 things your family does not want to forget when packing for Legoland hotel and Legoland Florida Resort to ensure you have a first time on your visit.
15 things you MUST pack for a family trip to Legoland Resort Florida
MATCHING PJS FOR THE LEGOLAND RESORT DANCE PARTY
The PJ dance party at Legoland Florida Resort is probably my favorite part of the evening. Legoland staff have the music bumping and children can join and dance their little hearts out. Parents are asked to join too, so be ready to get your groove on as well if you want. They have dance competitions, a solo dance time, and it’s hands down the best to watch. Kids are all laughing and jamming and the whole room is having a ton of fun.
Matching PJs are not required, and PJs are optional too but I always bring matching Pjs for my children so I can snag some fun photos and videos while they are dancing the night away.
You will get a paper event calendar and schedule when you check in to let you know when the dance party is happening, but you will also want to download the Legoland app to see this ahead of time and register for classes as well. You do not need to register for the dance party though, just show up in the lobby and join the fun and have the BEST time.
PORTABLE PHONE CHARGER
There are fun photo opportunities tucked into every corner of Legoland Resort in Florida, so you will be snapping photos and taking videos constantly if you are anything like me. Add that to using the app to check Legoland ride times or register your child for classes, and your phone battery will be drained quickly if you are not prepared.
I highly recommend bringing a portable phone charger for the adults in your party, so you don't have to miss out on any photo opportunities to capture!
SUNSCREEN
Its Florida so no matter when you visit, it will be hot! We always visit Legoland in December and the weather is still in the high 80’s. I love the warm temperatures but you will want to be prepared with sunscreen so you do not have to buy it for triple the price at the park or resort. You also definitely do not want to have to deal with a sunburned kiddo on vacation, that would be a major bummer! Save yourself some money and bring sunscreen from home. I personally prefer the sport spray sunscreen because it’s so much easier to apply with small children.
CASUAL CLOTHES
Legoland resort in Florida is SUPER, SUPER casual. Do not pack anything formal or nice unless you just really want to. Most adults in the resort will be wearing athletic clothes or you will see plenty of kids with bathing suits and cover ups as well. The entire Legoland resort in Florida is very laid back, so leave your fancy clothes at home and pack comfortable clothing for the entire family to relax in.
I love packing yoga pants, sweatshirts, graphic tees and biker shorts to wear at the parks and around the resort property. I dress the boys in basketball shorts and athletic shirts and pack bathing suits, and they are set!
You will find some adorable Lego inspired tee shirts available for purchase in the Legoland Resort Florida gift shop as well as the Legoland theme park if you want your children to have some cute apparel. But most people are not decked out in Lego gear. Do not feel pressured to buy a ton of Lego apparel before you go. Not necessary if you are looking to save a few dollars!
SWEATSHIRT and PANTS-
the common areas at the resort were really chilly during both visits!
As mentioned above, comfortable clothes are key. During both of our visits the common areas in the resort were cold! We were so glad to have sweatshirts on hand to stay warm in while hanging out downstairs in the Legoland resort for classes and fun.
SNACKS FOR THE ROOM
There are not microwaves in the Legoland Florida Resort rooms, so having snacks are much easier. We purchased outside food / snacks and fruit and had delivered from Instacart since we flew to Legoland resort and opted to skip the breakfast buffet. This made our morning easier and quicker to get to the park when it opened. We also enjoyed having chips, pretzels and other things for afternoon pick me ups or bedtime snacks vs. buying from the gift shop downstairs.
Even though there are not microwaves in the rooms, a server at the restaurant did say they are available and can be brought to your room if requested at no extra cost.
Small dorm sized refrigerators are there for guest use in room and are great for Gatorades, waters, and juice boxes.
COMFORTABLE SHOES
Tennis shoes are a MUST! Break them in before the trip if you are buying new shoes. You will be walking in the heat on pavement, make sure you select footwear that works for that. You are going to be walking a ton while at the theme park and around the resort. We packed flip flops and sandals for around the resort and ease of getting in and out of the pool for the kids but this isn’t necessary if you are trying to pack light. Packing one pair of comfortable tennis shoes each would be perfect for your family.
BATHING SUITS
You will want a bathing suit per kid for the heated pools at the Legoland Florida resort, Legoland Florida resort water slide and then the Legoland water park at the theme park. We opted to pack one bathing suit per kid and felt it was plenty. Towels are provided on Legoland resort property located right by the pool. Life Jackets are provided as well for guests of Legoland resort in Florida, leave those at home! They have plenty of sizes to choose from for your children.
LEGO MINI FIGURES FOR TRADING
One of the most fun parts of being at Legoland Florida resort and Legoland theme parks is the mini figure trading. Bring your Lego Mini figures with you on your trip and trade with any employee and at the check in desk when you arrive at the Legoland Resort.
My children LOVED the trading wall inside of the coffee shop at the Legoland Theme Park as well. Make sure you stop by while at the Legoland theme park.
Trading mini figures is such a fun way to chat with Legoland employees as well. It gives your children practice at greeting people, asking them to trade, and making selections on their own! All of the Legoland staff are friendly and welcoming when asked to trade.
Just be sure to check your mini figures for all arms and hands before packing up for the trip!
HAT
Florida sun, yall! You need a hat year round when visiting Legoland Florida. Whether you pack one from home or pick up a fun Legoland themed hat while on property, you cannot go wrong. Remember that Legoland passholders save on all food and shop purchases too!
SUNGLASSES
Pack your cheap sunglasses for the kids or buy some fun neon Legoland glasses at the resort shop like we did so they aren’t squinting all day, and get ready for some sun!
FANNY PACK FOR EASE OF CARRYING
Noone wants to schlep a bag around a theme park all day. I loved having my crossbody fanny pack with me and used it the entire visit. It was so nice to have my items close to me and secure and have my hands free to hold drinks and walk around. Best money I’ve ever spent!
EXTRA BAG FOR SOUVENIERS
Pack light on the trip down if you are flying so you can pack Lego sets and souveniers easily on the way home.
REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE
Your family is going to be BUSY while at the resort. Be sure to pack a big water bottle thats refillable to take with you and keep those kids hydrated.
While at the theme park, I would definitely recommend purchasing a refillable cup there to save money but you can bring in your own water bottle as long as its empty and get water there.
GENERAL MEDICATION
Pack some headache medicine, vitamins, medications you take regularly. I always pack fever medication and cough medication for my children when we travel in a freezer ziploc bag just incase. Sometimes airport germs hit you once you are on a trip and you do not want to have to go out while on vacation late at night in search of medication.
Should I bring a Stroller to Legoland Resort?
The actual Legoland Resort is small. The main resort is connected in the lobby where the bars and restaurants are. Navigating the lobby with a stroller is doable but could get crowded if you are traveling during peak times of the year. You will not be doing a ton of walking at the resort outside of elevator rides to and from the lobby for events, classes, and dining.
Everything at Legoland Florida resort is set up to be kid friendly and interactive. Even the elevator sings songs and a pirate talks to you on the speaker. The hallways are filled with Lego creations and have interactive components. Your child will not sit in the stroller even if you have it on resort property because they are going to want to stop and play like everyone else!
If you are worried about navigating the Legoland Theme Park without a stroller, no need to stress. Legoland Florida Theme Park has them for rent for 20$ per day for a single stroller and 29$ per day for a double stroller. You will find the stroller rental as soon as you go through the entrance gates at the Legoland Florida Theme Park. You can also rent ahead of time at this link. Having a stroller will be helpful for younger children. Do not forget to check out the baby care centers for a air conditioned place to relax if you are traveling with tiny children.
Should I bring Life Jacket / Floaties for my Small Child?
Towels are provided on Legoland resort property located right by the pool. Life Jackets are provided as well for guests of Legoland resort in Florida, leave those at home! They have plenty of sizes to choose from for your children.
Is there a gift shop on Legoland Resort property?
Yes, there is a small gift shop in the main lobby of the Legoland Resort. You can find Lego sets, Lego mini figures, Lego themed clothing, and small snacks.
Is there a grocery store near Legoland Florida resort?
Yes, there is a Publix Super Market directly across the street from the entrance to Legoland Florida resort. If your family wants to stock up on water or snacks for the room this would be the closest location.
There is a Walmart 4.2 miles from Legoland if you need to shop for additional items as well.
There is not a Target close by but if you are traveling in, you could pick up some items on your drive from the airport.
What if I Forget Something and Do Not Want to Leave the Legoland Resort?
Once I am on resort property, our family does not leave either. My children are all so excited to be there and take in all of the fun activities offered on Legoland Florida resort property as well at the Legoland Theme Park and Legoland Water Park, that we do not leave.
When we have needed to purchase things we did not pack, we used Instacart to deliver to the resort. It was an easy process, the front desk let us know when the items arrived, and we had what we needed.
Buying Legos at Legoland Resort and Legoland Florida Theme Park
The Legoland Resort in Florida has a small gift shop located in the main lobby. You can find Lego sets for all ages, Legoland Exclusive Lego sets (these are a must buy), small souvenirs, Lego mini figures, and snacks.
You can shop for Lego themed clothes and accessories like hats and sunglasses too! This is a great place to go before checking out of the Legoland Florida resort for any last-minute gifts or purchases before you go home.
But the real place you want to shop for Legos is the Big Shop in the Legoland Florida Theme Park. Located to your left immediately after entering the park this shop will wow any Lego lover. You name it, the Lego Big Shop has it. You will find fun Lego inspired stuffed animals, key chains, clothing in addition to Lego sets as well.
You may be tempted to shop Lego sets you can find anywhere, but the real deal Legos at Legoland Florida are the Legoland Exclusive sets. These gift shops are so much fun and cannot be purchased in other stores or anywhere else. They have Legoland Exclusive replicas of the Legoland Water Park, Legoland Theme Park, and other parts of the Legoland experience. We always encourage our kids to select these as memories of the Legoland trip.
